When to renew
Pennsylvania registrations expire at the end of the month shown on your registration card. PennDOT sends a renewal notice by mail or email roughly three months in advance, but the notice is a courtesy — not receiving one does not extend your deadline.
You can renew before the expiration date without losing time; the new term begins when the old one ends. There is no grace period after expiration, so renewing early is always the safer choice.
There is nothing to stick on your plate. Pennsylvania stopped issuing registration stickers at the end of 2016. Enforcement is electronic, which means an officer can see your registration status from the plate alone.
